Alternative to Residential Treatment
It can be humiliating to pack up your bags, leave your home, and be confined in a residential treatment program, locked away from the world and stuck in an environment with other people who don’t want to be there. Let’s face it – who wants to undergo treatment for addiction or their mental health because it shows everybody “I have failed in my efforts”.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Have you considered Partial Hospitalization? Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) allows you to attend treatment and still have the luxury of sleeping in your own bed. Five days a week, a minimum of six hours a day you immerse yourself in the fundamentals of psychology and address the root cause of what has been stopped you from living life the way you desire.
We don’t look upon clients as being broken or never being able to heal. We view people as having deep core issues that need to be properly addressed and processed through. No shame, no guilt, no making amends, and we don’t tell you that you are powerless. We believe people are powerful but nobody has ever taught them how to harness this power to improve your life.
Different Recovery Approach
Basic Steps Mental Health has a vastly different approach in the recovery field – which is heartbreaking to us. This industry is sick and has dismal success rates. We have made it our mission to do something about it. This we accomplish by teaching psychological approaches to our clients in order to empower them for the long haul. Without the proper information, we tend to do the same thing again and again and hope for different results. With the proper information, people learn to ride an emotional reaction they currently have, back in time, and address the root of the problem through compassionate care. Love is seen as the ultimate healer and each client learns how to master this approach of applying love to their wounds. Conventional Psychology believes that bringing subconscious material to the surface is healing, but in all actuality it only retriggers us. In applying love to the part inside of us that went through difficulty we go the distance and heal!
Opening Up Old Wounds
Is this hard? Many people believe that it would be too painful to open up old wounds and deal with them. One person said they would rather die, which was what fed their addiction. What if play and fun was part of this process? Would you be more inclined to do so? Of course, addressing old wounds is painful, but left unaddressed they only fester and grow. This is when we have more panic and use more and more substances. Isn’t it time to get off that merry go round ride and treat this once and for all?
Just so you know, we don’t force people into anything they don’t want to do. We move at your pace because this is your treatment and you will get out of it what you put into it. The surprising thing is that the pain isn’t as bad as you think and after going through our process, you feel as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders!
Treatment Options
Which other program offers this type of treatment? In searching for a treatment facility to attend ask them what their theory is on healing. Be informed before you make this important decision. How does each facility address emotional difficulties? And let’s face it, we are emotional beings and are only as strong as our emotional make-up. When you are empty, how much can you give to others or even yourself? One person in our program wanted to be like Spock on Star Trek. Spock was all logic and had no emotions. Their emotions were dragging them down into the dirt for decades.
To be honest, we cannot think our way out of an emotional problem. Why are people in dysfunctional relationships? On paper, you can see the drastic differences, but emotionally they are getting something out of it. To change this dynamic you need to address your emotions properly, learn from them and adjust them. What a luxury to know and we are expert at this type of work.
Learning Self-Counseling
Our program addresses problems physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The emphasis is on the emotions because we are only as strong as our emotional make up. Do you trust yourself? Do you people please? Do you help out others instead of yourself? How is your relationship with you? Is there room for improvement?
Could you imagine going through treatment because you want to? This program doesn’t feel like a program at all, but a workshop on how to live life to its fullest! Clients are educated on a minimum of ten psychological approaches, pair off and practice the skills on one another, and in the end, are able to conduct a counseling session with themselves on paper! Learning the “Self-Counseling” model is unique in this industry! Can you see the advantages to it?
One in five people throughout the country is in need of serious therapy. One hour a week can go so far, especially since there are 168 hours in a week. There are automatic habits that need to be addressed on a daily basis in order to change them for the better. This is why we provide homework assignments to do once you return home. You can slowly wade into the water but let’s get you swimming and we are in the water swimming with you to show you the strokes.
Open Mind, Body, and Spirit
In considering this program this is what we ask of you. Have an open mind, a willing spirit, and commit to practicing the tools and skills you will learn on a daily basis. Old habits die hard but sticking with the new habits can lock them in as the old just fades away.
Do you know how to work through depression and anxiety? Do you know how to learn and grow from them? What habits would you like to change? What are you willing to let go of for good?
Compassionate Care is Always Available
The interesting thing about the PHP program at Basic Steps Mental Health is our round Robin discussions. As the walls come down, the real person emerges. We talk about real subjects that nobody likes to talk about. The byproduct of this type of intimacy is learning that people are so alike and we are not alone in our hopes and fears.
Let’s face it. We care about you and you don’t have to suffer any longer. Please contact us today and start the change you desire. Please check out our website, our blogs, read Dr. Scott Alpert’s book: “Self-Helping” in order for you to fully grasp what we do. You deserve to lead a great life, all you need is the guidance and support to do so and we are here to help.
